Private lesson for our group

A special treat for our small group (Ikebana students on Julia’s Flower Club tour) had two private lessons with Fukushima sensei at Sogetsu Headquarters.

After watching very inspiring demonstrations our theme was ‘Branches, two approaches’. I felt right at home working with the drill and screwing the branches to form a free-standing sculpture. For the ‘second approach’ I choose a black metal container to hold the heavy branch form upside down. Smoke bush (Cotinus coggygria) and a sprig of Bittersweet (Celastrus scandens) add the fresh element to the arrangement. A fun exercise.
