Wall arrangements with bamboo
The founder of the School, Sofu Teshigahara said ‘Sogetsu could be done by anyone, anywhere and with any material’.
In this exercise the students worked with thin strips of split bamboo and using various knotting skills and there was certainly a variation. From binding jute/cord/string or anything of your choice around joints, using bamboo-wiring techniques to a selection of made up knots, all created an amazing effect.
Once the background section was completed the students cut a length of bamboo as the container for water so fresh material can be added. Again the selection of material can vary to suit the ambience.
