Workshop with Master Mori Sairin

The first workshop theme with theme with Master Mori Sairin was ‘Intertwining’ and many of my students know this is my least favorite theme, so I struggled.

I selected my favorite e container design by Hiroshi Tesharagaha, and the material is Firecracker plant (Russelia equisetiformis). My intention was to support the work above the container but as many of you know ‘the best-laid plans of mice and me often go awry) and that’s what happened to me.

To compensate for the Intertwined material resting on the container, I Intertwined it into a tight coil, leaving the ends free to give the feeling of spinning and hopefully a feeling of lightness.
